Don’t read this… I’m just reminiscing. I had a good education, I think, but the absolute worst was to have relatives as teachers! My aunt taught English, my uncle taught math. Worse yet? My grandmother ran a boarding house for teachers, and many of my teachers lived there. They loved to use me for an example for everything. I couldn’t get away with anything. Small town, too…. I never stood a chance.
Mine wasn’t a relative. She was a substitute who was a friend of my mother’s. Tall, sweet, kind of dorky. She walked into the classroom, sat behind the teacher’s desk and looked around. When her eyes locked on mine and she smiled I knew what was coming. It was like waiting for an incoming ICBM in slow motion as she perked up, smiled wider and wished me good morning by name as if we were best buddies.

Can’t be entirely in Calvin’s imagination- Wormy doesn’t appear to have changed all that much as she adds fuel to the fire!

I suspect this going to turn out to be a dream, and Calvin’s “logical” explanation as to why he didn’t do his homework.
