Calvin’s first step is to hide the note.

Burn the note? I doubt she knows those numbers by memory.

And THAT’S why Rosalyn is the only person who can truly strike terror into Calvin’s heart!

And thus do we meet Rosalyn.

Rosalyn is a pragmatist.Either she controls or Calvin does. The $8 is simply her incentive.

Reality rears its ugly head. Or at least the possibility.

I can’t believe I baby-sat for thirty five cents an hour…and fifty cents after midnight.

These comic strips are not only reruns, they are scrambled.

Calvin’s interactions with the females in the strip who were not related to him — Rosalyn, Susie, and Miss Wormword — were usually not his best behaved. They had their work cut out for them in oppressing his boyishness.

Ah…the first Rosalyn strip, before Watterson even gave her a name.

$8 would be about the hourly rate now.

Teenage sitters get $10 per hour in my area. Twenty years ago I paid them $7 per hour.

You’ll be laughing about that in later strips Rosalyn.

My wife and I never go out due to having to pay $50/night for babysitting, which ends no later than 11.

I don’t believe in spanking kids but Calvin is an exception. However I loved Rosalyn’s “Don’t you dare mess with me” approach.

I have a hard time imagining numbers on that emergency list that Calvin wouldn’t be begging Rosalyn to call! Fire, Police, Ambulance? Oh boy!
