Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson for August 20, 2017

Calvin has been saved in more ways than one.

So this is a comic strip. Not Calvin’s imagination or a matter of who Hobbs really is. It is actually Watterson’s imagination to entertain or inform us. So we shouldn’t lose the forest for the trees. Is it entertaining us? (Most often, yes.) Is it informing us? (It is making us think about our experiences and our lives.) Because I think that beyond dispute, it is the highest quality and most imaginative comic ever produced. So regardless of who Calvin is and who Hobbs is, I think the world is a better place for Watterson putting so much thought and effort when applying ink to paper. That is my pompous and unasked for two cents for the day.

Did Calvin close his eyes with that first sneeze? I hope so; otherwise he would be blind.

Hay fever season

That remind me of a Lou Carter’s song….. If I Hade A Nose Full Of Nickels I’d Sneeze Them All At You.

If Calvin did that, he would go splat as soon as he landed.

Calvin says he turned himself around, but based on his position in the second-to-last panel, wouldn’t it keep sending him away from Earth?

Good thing Calvin sneezed into space on Sunday instead of tomorrow- he’d have to look away from the sun.

Am I looking too much into a strip about sneezing away from the planet? Yes I am.

In panel four, Calvin could have sang, “I got the feelin’!” ;-) Fake internet points for whomever gets the reference!

I always have to pinch my nose to stop any “stuff” coming out. If you had Hay Fever you would understand.

When you sneeze you are close to a heart attack as your heart stops beating for a second or two. That is the reason for a God bless you!
