To be fair…the term “bug” doesn’t seem to mean anything anymore.
It was originally used exclusively for insects of the Hemiptera order like cicadas and aphids…but then it started being used for ALL insects, and then for non-insect arthropods like arachnids. (But not crustaceans, despite those being arthropods too.) People even use it to refer to earthworms and snails, despite those not even being arthropods.
