I wear a retainer at night too. I wore braces as a kid but when they were taken off, I discontinued wearing (my retainers) once my orthodontist finally dismissed me as a patient. But over the years, a few of my teeth went slightly crooked again so, feeling a little bit self-conscious about my smile, I went back to my orthodontist and had braces put back on my teeth for about a year as a young adult. I no longer see my orthodontist but I continue to faithfully wear my retainers at night so that I never have to worry about crooked teeth (and maybe wearing braces yet a third time!) ever again.
btw: I agree with Susan that people ought to age gracefully — which I’m trying my very best to do. But there’s no point in doing it with crooked teeth if I don’t have too!!!!!
