Cathy: What happened, Charlene? I was young...I was even sort of cute...I used up all my good years in this stupid office...now I'm old and past my prime, and NOW I have to look for a husband and father of my children?? NOW, when I'm wrinkled and flabby and set in my ways?? NOW I'M SUPPOSED TO FIND MY PRINCE CHARMING?? Charlene: Five more minutes of good skin tone just slipped away. Cathy: AACK!! Charlene: If I can't put her out of her misery, at least I can put myself out of mine.
@lightenup and @legaleagle: All of us are victims of our past to some extent, but some more than others. As a result, sometimes we say things that offend others. One of the advantages of a forum like this is that we have the opportunity to think over what we have said and consider how others will take it before we post it. So, in theory, it should be easier for us to avoid offending others online than in face-to-face conversation. Unfortunately, in practice, what sometimes happens is that we are more likely to offend others online because of the anonymity, and because others can’t see our facial expressions or body language. Whether online or in person, human communication is imperfect.
