For 10 years my mother & I would have the exact same discussion about Thanksgiving: She would ask if we could come to their place. I would ask what they’re serving. “Turkey”. “We can’t; my husband is allergic.” “He doesn’t have to eat it.” “He can’t even be in a room where it’s been cooking; it causes him to stop breathing.” After 10 years my mother decided that he just didn’t like turkey & stopped asking. (And no; we couldn’t have them over at our place because a) it’s too small to host a large dinner; and b) they insist on turkey for Thanksgiving.)
No problem, if a child ends up spending all their time with their spouses family, they just get a smaller cut of the inheritance. No griping or complaining, just continue to show them affection and send the invites. Never understood why families thought they had a birth right to equal shares, attention and respect should get the rewards.

Either Irving’s mother is Jewish, or she REALLY knows how to lay a guilt trip on someone!

Irving’s mother was the one character in this comic strip that was irredeemably nasty.

We always did Thanksgiving with my in-laws. My mom didn’t mind. She usually went hunting with my dad and my brother.

“Guilt trip”, indeed, Lee Cox. Irving’s mom has that down to a science, based on today’s strip.
HI, MOM. Hello, “Cathy” Clan.
