The 2 clothing areas where you come back to reality and find your true size (from the 1950s) before they started making every size bigger to soothe our egos: Swimsuits and formalwear. Had to buy a gown recently – asked for 2 sizes up from what I normally wear now. Dress just needed to be shortened.
What I don’t understand about clothes is that I have things I bought years ago that still fit even though I gained weight since then. If they fit me now, it makes me wonder what they looked like on me then.

She should know after all these years that bathing suits run smaller than clothing. Bring in a 10 and 12…maybe a 14. One of those would fit.
