As long as it isn’t on its last legs and ready to break down at any minute, why don’t they just continue driving what they’ve already got and wait for a better deal later? Or maybe buy one somewhere that’s slightly used?
Desperation — whether it’s for a new car, the latest iPhone (or some other electronic gad-get), etc. — is the easiest way in the world to get taken advantage of by unscrupulous people selling whatever it is you want simply because you’re convinced that you “can’t live without it” and they know it too ….. which is probably why everything in the world (no matter what it is) seems so darned expensive these days!
