I can testify to the change in size of dinner services. I have a complete set of china bought by my mother in the 1930’s and it’s amazing how small everything is. Not just the plates, but also soup bowls that hold about half a cup, tea cups that you could empty in one swallow. It’s beautiful and I’d like one of my grandchildren to take it, but no one has a use for it or space. It sits hidden away in a closed cabinet and awaits its fate.
