The usage of “saccharine” that I’m familiar with is not that it’s a FALSE sweetness, but that it’s simply TOO sweet, although that could certainly lead to “too sweet to be real”.
My big gripe about aspartame is that it’s too much of a “fruity” sweetness. I find saccharine to be less cloying.
