Keyrie Ellison once again goes for the dishonesty, once again dishonoring their screen name. The first thing to note in this cartoon is that the proprietor — not the government — has asked for proof of vaccination. That is their constitutional right. Secondly, there are many instances in this country’s history, including during the Revolution, of the government requiring immunization, masks, quarantine and other concessions to public health. Washington required small pox immunization among his troops. Entire sections of several cities were quarantined during past pandemics. And don’t forget the World War II black outs every night to make sure bombers couldn’t target them (not being bombed is a public health issue). I’m all for requiring vaccines for those who are able because if you’re going to live in a society then freedom always comes with responsibility for that community.
