On another, but not unrelated topic, I think that the revelations about Toyota’s business practices suggest that you can’t trust corporations to act in the public good, or even in the good of the people who buy their products. I don’t want to government to make cars, but I don’t want the car makers to regulate themselves. The government has to be there as a countervailing force.
