Vampire: Welcome back to earth for the annual monsters vs. space aliens Halloween football classic! Alien: You'll be short a player, since we have the mummy's head as a trophy. Vampire: Ah, but we've recruited a player with lots of experience defeating extraterrestrials. Alien: Buck Rogers! Klaatu: No -- it's Flash Gordon! Vampire: Actually, you're both right. It's a reanimated and rejuvenated Buster Crabbe. Man: Are there any swimming events? I don't get it alert! Buster Crabbe played both Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers in movie serials in the 1930s. His main qualification for movie-hero status was being an Olympic gold medalist in swimming -- like Johnny Weissmuller. Johnny who...? Sigh -- just Google it.

I’m old enough to have seen those Johnny Weissmuller movies on TV, but I’m not old enough to have seen them in the theater - they were reruns. JW only made one movie after I arrived on the scene.
Doc, unlike Gods vs. Heroes, in this one sudden death may be the only way out.
