Gary: What did Mr. Martin want? Deanna: Oh, his older boys played football. He thinks we're not training hard enough because the kids aren't throwing up. Gary: Oh, we should've asked Jake Reistroffer to come to practice today. He has a stomach virus.
I once used a line, verbatim, in Cleats that I heard at a youth football practice. A mom was telling another mom that the coach worked the kids so hard that her son would come off the field after practice and throw up. She added proudly, “He loves it!” referring to her son. Football people are intense.
