Transcript:
Voice out of frame: Jack Dooley! Bailey: Dad?! Walt: Bailey, you'll get a trophy. Bailey: I'm not getting one because I'm a terrible soccer player. Walt: Bailey-- you'll get a trophy! These trophies are for getting out there and trying your hardest. Voice out of frame: Mondo Ruiz! Bailey: We were supposed to try our hardest?! Walt: ...Or-- looking neat. You always had your shirt tucked in.
See, that’s a problem for me. What do participation trophies reward, being there? It doesn’t teach kids the harsh realty that there are winners and losers in every game. It’s learning how to win or lose graciously that is important, and to improve yourself to win the next one.
