It’s ironic – he was about to be canned anyway.

A fitting tribute to a fallen comrade-in-arms.

Upton Sinclair wrote a book, The Jungle, on the meat packing industry which went into people falling into vats and the product still packed for sale.

And that’s his head in the water pack albacore.

Got canned but no pink slip.

Dang… is that a dent?

Are the ingredients listed?

His nickname was Gumbo.

Ironically, they stamped him with an expiration date five years in the future.

Saves a carp load on funeral expenses.

Just about to retire at 65.

He got a little behind in his work.

Somehow he fell into multiple vats.

There is a Tom and Jerry cartoon from the mid-1960s entitled “Cannery Rodent”, in which Tom chases Jerry into a fish cannery, and both of them wind up in cans, both of which have their faces and names on them.

Is it dolphin safe?

A cannery was a sure job during the season. Worked in one for several years while I was in high school.

That’s a good one.

Worked as an outside contractor at a couple of cereal factories. One we called a cereal factory and the other a cereal foundry. There were two different approaches for cleanliness.
