Just had a molar extracted and was told that I have a dry socket and could have excruciating pain in a few days (I do)?! I never heard of the term before, so I asked and was told that it’s because I did not bleed enough at the time of the extraction. I bleed easily and normally have to take blood clotting meds for certain procedures. I’m in my 70s, guess aging changes more that hair loss and hair growth in weird places and other fun things the body does.
My imagination is far worse than the pain. I don’t have anesthesia for cavities because I want to know what is going on. Also, I am paranoid about causing damage to mouth later, when it’s still numb. Two days ago I had a very painful cavity drilled, but when the drilling stopped, everything was fine, no lingering numbness or unreasonable worries. The drilling only seemed like a minute or two.

Maybe we should use just a mite more anesthetic!

Alfred P. Southwick, a dentist from Bison, New York invented the electric chair. Yes, a dentist … surprised? Shocking!
