@Nelly55 My dad used to keep marbles in the freezer for the same purpose. The advantage being that they didn’t melt so you didn’t have to worry about the mattress getting wet, and marbles will roll so even if the person tries to shift to a new spot in the bed, they’ll follow. Plus, marbles are reusable. He kept the same set in the freezer for years, just in case.

my mom used to throw ice in our beds if we didn’t get up in time…….
she only did it once to me…..after that she only had to shake the ice tray and my feet would hit the floor.
