I lived in one of those towns once. We actually had a stop sign AND a stop light.

my former boss once got out of a ticket in the big city by explaining that there were no traffic lights in our town. unfortunately that has changed…

I grew up in one of those towns except in addition to the one traffic light we also had a caution light down at the highway. Every small town cliche that you can think of was applicable to that town.

In a fit of nostalgia a few years ago I tried to check their football scores and didn’t recognize any of the towns they played. On further investigation I found out they couldn’t even field an eleven man football team now and were playing six man football. Seems the population had dropped from 1200 or so to about 750. Sad. Sad, sad, sad.

The village I waz born in waz established shortly after the Rev. war..population 379. Ever since, the population hasn’t changed much, ‘cuz ever’ time a girl got pregnant, a guy left town. If she had twins, TWO guys hit the road, even in New England winters like the one in progress.. In ‘winters back then,’ Jim Cantore and Al Roker would have been positively ecstatic !!!!
