Yes! The anticipated panic. And I’m guessing that Maeder will stretch it out, playing a variety of similar scenarious of group hysteria for the rest of this week.

And that he’ll address what happens to “turn the tide”, in the middle of next week.

Someone raised the question of how the Toxin effect had not emerged earlier through the Air vents to affect those who examined them. Obviously if it could, there would be dead birds laying around. I’m guessing here again that it is a toxin localized to entry/ exit points to deter illegal entry and/or to restrain/confine something intelligent enough inside to know the perils of leaving . Safe egress (another guess here) is allowed by some form of secret coding

The map referred to FOUR entry points. One was blown up by the Blue Circle team to allow entry which in turn triggered release of the toxin.

Unless a safe counter can be found for the toxin there is the likelyhood of permanent military quarantine for the site.

Interesting is, that this story will have been running for all of 5 months come next week. What a great “example” for those that write Dick Tracy on the art of “gripping” and “holding” reader’s interest.

But it’s hard to teach an old dog new tricks..

The plague will eventually reach Alaska, where Annie (or one of her spooky friends) will provide the cure, thus bringing her back into the story.

Interesting point there, Sidney Philliips, the toxin is released when someone enters a place that is booby trapped, and the Blue Circle destroyed the only one that wasn’t.

This strip has taken a Pibgorn/Dick Tracy sort of turn. Like Pibgorn, you’ll never know what’s going to happen next, unlike Dick Tracy, there’s no holes in the storyline (yet)!
