It's that dumb version of Jingle Bells sung by barking dogs...now I'm going to have it stuck in my head all day... Poncho: Arf, arf, arf! Arf, arf, arf! Arf, arf, arf, arf, arf! Squirrel: Dashing through the snow...in a one-horse open sleigh....

My dog used to bark to Inna Gadda Da Vida. This is indeed an improvement.

It should be illegal for every artist to sing Winter Wonderland. Iâm so sick of that song. Iâll take Jingle Bells over that anytime though I prefer Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Joy to the World, Silent Night, The First Noel, the ones with real meaning.

Iâm not a Christian (by most definitions), but I can understand and respect the preference for the religious-type Christmas songs. Of course, âWinter Wonderlandâ isnât really a Christmas song at all; neither is âJingle Bellsâ, for that matter. Theyâre both songs about winter and snow, with nary a Christmas reference (neither Jesus nor Santa) to split between âem. Thereâs no real reason they canât be played and enjoyed any time from November through February (or May through August, if youâre in the Southern Hemisphere). Songs about Summer donât need to be tied to a particular holiday, nor do songs about Spring or Autumn (I canât think of a heckuva lot of Autumn songs, tho). But somehow every song about Winter automatically ends up being considered a Christmas songâŠ
What I like about âWinter Wonderlandâ is that the couple cudding by the fire arenât married. It isnât explicit in the song, but Iâve always imagined that theyâve checked into a charming little Bed-and-Breakfast somewhere, registering as âMr. and Mrs. SmithââŠ

One lovely Autumn song is âWhen October Goesâ (Lyrics by Johnny Mercer, Music by Barry Manilow). This can be found on what I consider to be Manilowâs best album ever, â2:00 AM Paradise Cafe.â

Remember Porkie Pigâs version of Blue Christmas? This is one I can go the season without hearing.

Actually, I like âIâm Gettinâ Nothinâ for Christmas.â One hearing per year is sufficient, but it beats the heck out of âGrandma Got Run Over by a Reindeerâ every hour on the hourâŠ

Speaking of Blue Christmas I love how Elvis sings that!
