Laura: Okay, Adam. Remember: don't buy any more Halloween candy. We have enough already and you overbought last year. We had leftovers for months. Adam: No problem. My willpower is legendary. Well, maybe one bag while I'm here. With these low prices I'd be foolish not to buy. Laura: Adam! What is all this? I told you not to buy any more candy! Did you buy any groceries? Any meat? Fruit? And don't give me your line about candy corn being a vegetable! Adam: Sahw-wee.

I can’t resist the markdown candy. I fill a spot in my refrigerator and have candy until easter when I refill……

We don’t do Halloween but I always enjoy getting the candy on sale after it’s over with.

I have Kissses from last Halloween..truly. But no Butterfingers or Heath Bars. Only two kids last year and they were adorable babies being shown off by Dad.

Haven’t had any trick-or-treaters in several years. Not since the night we had to call the police………. Too complicated to go in details here.

We haven’t had trick or treaters in a few years either. And there are kids around here. I think around here it’s not as big of a deal anymore. And yes, I love the days after holidays, candy is always on sale!

We never get trick or treaters either. The only candy that I keep in the house is Dutch licorice. If I had dark chocolate I would be into it all the time. Did I mention that…
I love bittersweet chocolate.JanLC about 15 years ago
We don’t have very many trick-or-treaters either. We live in a brand new tract where there are lots of kids, but only the next-door neighbor family came by last year. Our old place, on the other hand, had a constant parade of costumed children. One year I took photos of all of my visitors, and I had more than 30 pictures and most of them had 3 or more kids in them.

No trick-or-treaters here either, but I do go for the ‘after’ sales. I buy the kisses and use them in my Christmas cookies.

Why is it men never seem to have any “willpower” even when they think they do? ;) When I buy candy I put some in the candy dish, have couple for myself(husband eats most of it) then hide the rest….If I don’t I wouldn’t hardly get any. I take 2-3 for his 10. Seriously!

These days, most parents I know do not allow their kids to go trick-or-treating to houses of people they don’t know. Generally, they take them to a church or other organization who has some sort of party where the kids can wear their costumes and collect candy. They might take the kids by neighbors, grandparents and other relatives or friends’ houses, but not to strangers. Between the risk of getting hit by a car while walking after dark, in costumes that might not allow the best visibility or quick movement, and the people out there who don’t have the best interests of your child at heart, many parents have decided to do something different.

and i find that very sad, somehow. but i can’t blame them. i’m never home on the night, any more (that’s when i work) but my condo asks residents to donate a bag of candy each for the kids to go to the lobby to collect treats. last year we hardly handed out any, according to the volunteers.

“My will power is legendary.” There are actually two kinds of legends:- legendary successes and legendary failures.
