It was never suppose to be your only source of income when you retired. That is the mistake many make about it. It was suppose to be supplemental and help everyone, thus the word SOCIAL aka everyone pays for those that that didn’t plan ahead. And those that didn’t plan have little to live on and then complain that they can’t live on it…it’s their own fault.
Unfortunately, many people can’t put anything away for retirement because they aren’t paid enough to do it. Many people literally live from paycheck to paycheck with nothing left to put aside for retirement. So yeah, for those people, that’s there only income when they retire. It’s too bad they don’t teach this in school before kids graduate. Thinking ahead for only getting job is no longer enough. The last panel: Good luck trying to find something. Isn’t much out there for people over a certain age.
