Let’s build a bridge out of ’im.

Yup, one of the most common used in Europe (and later, Central America) for many things besides witch-checking was “being put to the question” or “pressed.” Basically they laid the person down on the floor, put a thick board on top of them and piled heavy stones on top until a) the person “confessed” or b) was crushed to death.
