And a bargain is a bargain, twice the luck. My Northern European ancestry says that pickled herring is good luck for the new year. How about the rest of you?

Here in the south I’ve heard it’s black-eyed peas and collard greens.

my best move for good luck is spending a lot of time under the mistle……….. no really, I set a specific periond of time on New Year’s Eve for some serious introspection and contemplation of what the year may bring and how the past year unfolded. This prepares me to deal with the unexpected which is always to be expected.

Reminds me of the time in Southern Mexico a fellow offered me a choice between a luck charm labled Buena Suerte (Good luck) or for 1 peso more, a charm that said “Double buena surte”. (Double good luck) Needless to say I purchased the latter.

Are you talking about the myth foods? I don’t know anything about the myth foods. That would be a superstition. :-]

Cabbage, black-eyed peas, ham. I think it’s for money, health, and luck, but not necessarily in that order.

Here in Spain, apart from the twelve grapes, the tradition is to wear red underwear and to drink champagne with a gold ring in it.
