    Uh huh, sure it’s not a girdle. Shouting about it not being a girdle in that manner is something people do to hide the fact that their wearing a girdle to hide their belly fat.

    In Mideavel times a “girdle” was any form of clothing that wrapped around the waist: To encircle (a person or the part of the body) with a belt or band. It could be tight or loose, decorative or functional, ie: a sword belt vs an embroidered cloth strip that draped loosely around the waist.To fasten or secure (clothing, for example) with a belt or band.

    Actually, “girdle” is essentially an old-fashioned word for “belt”. It was only around 1925 that American advertisers started using it as a code word for “corset”.
