A Thought for the Day:If you are part of a society that votes, then do so. There may be no candidates and no measures you want to vote forâŠbut there are certain to be ones you want to vote against. In case of doubt, vote against. By this rule you will rarely go wrong. If this is too blind for your taste, consult some well-meaning fool (there is always one around) and ask his advice. Then vote the other way. This enables you to be a good citizen (if such is your wish) without spending the enormous amount of time on it that truly intelligent exercise of the franchise requires. -Lazarus Long (by Robert A, Heinlein)
Popular vote only gets you one that most of the country doesnât want. Popular vote with instant runoff (vote first, second, etc. choice, the least is dropped and alternates added, until a majority is reached) at least gets you someone the majority can at least stand. As it is now, âIt wonât mean a thing if your state cannot swingâ, and even there it is non-binding. Jill Stein and the Green Party support IRV, so, since your vote for president is meaningless, vote Green and build a real democracy â the rule of all the people. And be sure and vote for the rest of the offices where your vote really counts.
I absolutely HATE having to hold my nose in order to vote for the âlesser of two evilsâ when it comes to choosing a president!!! I just wish someone with intelligence, honesty and integrity would step forward â someone with the best interest of our country and its people in their mind, heart and soul â that we can ALL agree on, support and stand behind!!!
this was my 19 year old daughterâs first presidential election ⊠we all went over the people and propositions and then decided to vote the same for our whole family ⊠too bad our guy didnât make it, though we are in blue blue state of CA. Got half of the props our way, though. I consider voting a mandatory right to exercise. Most of the time, my wife and I are the only voters for pages of registered voters who never show up. this time there was actually a line to wait to vote! i loved it!

I believe it is my duty to vote. To be free to do your duty in your own way is the meaning of âduty freeâ. Now get on that pot and do your duty!
