Actually, it was from a “Painless dentist” ad from the 1880s; thus the missing tooth! << Nick Meglin , MAD publisher said this on a TV interview I watchedps, he also had a copy of the actual newspaper ad
Haha, it must be a disease, I once met two girls who claimed they had a friend who wrote a poem called “Kodakchrome” only to have Paul Simon steal it and turn it into the hit song!
The original Alfred E Neuman (For the Romine painless dentistry clinics, a chain of dentist offices in the US, Canada and the British empire, from the 1890s; apparently, MAD had better luck with the kid, than the dentistry business): Hopefully my last post on this ;)
