I actually dreamed last night that I was sitting in a college level discussion class on Peanuts! Except the strip was a bit different, there were more characters. Linus and Lucy’s parents were first-generation German immigrants and their kids reflected that. There was a guy running around in kilts (a friend of Schroeder’s) who called himself “Scottie”, and a girl called Susie who was friends with Sally but they argued all the time. The class was into the sociocultural meanings etc. I think my sleeping brain must have confused Peanuts with the Rainbow gang.
Which is more embarrassing, Snoopy? The brave warrior crying, or being led back home by the round-headed kid? Beats being captured and shot at dawn… :-)
I guess I missed these ‘65 ’post Great Pumpkin’ comics when I was young. I don’t recall Linus writing that post-Halloween letter to the GP, or Snoopy going down behind enemy lines and … wimping out. I’ll just have to say, ‘Aww.’
Snoopy used a parachute? According to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parachute), the German air service, in 1918, became the world’s first to introduce a standard parachute and the only one at the time.

Back when these were new, MAD Magazine did do a series of strips starring the Baron (who kind of looked like Charlie Brown with facial hair).

The lesson is “You can’t please everyone, so you’ve got to please yourself.”

Actually, Snoopy, the bullets really plane use are HEAPI tracer (High Explosive Armor Piercing Incendiary) wich is self-explanatory.

It’s almost like Charlie Brown has to take care of a younger brother
