Oh Patty dear, could you excuse me for about twenty mintes? I’m just going to run down to the store and return this ridiculous thing. The reason the Pennys love their coffee so much is because it isn’t theirs at all. Burl liberates it from the U-Stor-It office.I am so thankful for all of you and that I don’t llive within 1,000 miles of the Pennys!

I don’t see a plate in front of anyone but Joy. Does this mean that she has eaten (or rather shoved into her maw) a quarter of a cake by herself? Sure she did. It was looking so alone after the Veterans’ Day reception and she had her big purse (natch) and no one was looking and…..

I feel for Patty….Except for the returning part, my mother used to have the same reaction to my gifts when I was a young adult.

When you’re 25 you think your poor mother just doesn’t realise she could have a coffee grinder… or in my case,,,, a fancy apple corer…safety potato grater.. Moulli salad grater…embroidered lingerie bags…travel neck pillow….

All the stuff that ended up stuffed into bottom drawers cos she didn’t want to hurt my feelings by getting rid of it.

The little electric manicure set though, she was genuinely…well…“grateful for” isn’t quite right…“terrified of" is probably more accurate…She bravely stuck out a finger towards the little spinning wheel and pulled it back the second it made contact with a fingernail…giving me a wan little smile….

“Very nice honey..” she said. “It’s…. interesting…”

Well, you can tell Patty didn’t fall far from the tree. Giving them a coffee grinder was like giving the Elephant Man as makeup mirror.

Patty got her dad a nice cake. For my Dad’s birthdays I used to cook a leg of lamb (his favorite meal) and he liked a pineapple upside down cake. .Most of the people here are thankful that they live here among other things. I think there is no place I would rather be, just need to convince my lover of that (assuming he eventually retires). As long as he contiues to keep working I’ll just spend more time going there. After this year I think it will be September and February (the 2 months when either summer or winter are becoming too much in Phoenix as well as my birthday and Valentines).

I’m sure they’ll try it before they return it. After they figure out it doesn’t work so well on instant coffee, it’ll be history.Happy Thanksgiving Crustwoodians!

They mostly liked when I would cook for them as they ate out the rest of the time. I had to be careful about excess seasoning for them as they grew up with nothing but salt and pepper. I have many things in my spices I seldom use, but I watch a lot of the Food and Cooking channels and love to experiment ;-D

When staying with my lover, I mostly just get to make breakfast, but I use any of our doggy bags because I like to be creative there too. This trip I’ll go to my daughter’s for Christmas week and fix a lot of our dinner with her. My youngest son is recently single so he will probably join us too. I taught all my kids to cook (and use tools and mend their clothes). We should all be self-sufficient ;-)

Not if they can get cash for it – and who would they know who might grind their own coffee? Even I don’t do that. I like Bustelo in my Expresso pot (just bought one for his house). I once tryed grinding what my store purported was that kind of roast, but I can buy vacuum packages on line.
