Yup…. she has a life….a toothless one, which I guess she doesn’t notice now that she’s used to it.

Doesn’t take teeth to eat those cupcakes… or HoHos…. or the boxed macaroni and cheese, Jello and canned peaches they feed them in her senior residence.

I sometimes took my Dad out to dinner when he lived in one….I remember once when I asked him what he felt like having, and he said “Something I have to chew.”

Yes, we have no Find-It today…Oops, since typing that, X posted…. that must be it…..

Verla’s cup says “First Think.”If that’s the rule, she’ll never get any coffee.

BTW, about a year ago, when Julie was answering her e-mail, and showing up here in the forum, somebody asked about the green blouse with orange flowers…

She said she’d never noticed it was always colored that way, and would have to tell the colorist that Joy needed a new wardrobe. She tends to identify characters by a quirk of hair or wardrobe… like the shape of their glasses, or Verl’s bun.The originally B/W panels are recolored for each re-use, but that floral print is one of Joy’s motifs. It’s possible that she works far ahead, and her strips were colored so long ago that a change has only just filtered down to the newest submissions.

The flower print remains the same, but the GB w/OF has been re-hatched in assorted hues.

Smelling Burl’s shoes and flip flops must be some sort of extreme dieting trick, or even bulimic. Hurling, y’know. Also I wonder if Ma feels so entitled with “her life” that she wants someone to remind her to wipe her…..!Re: living with no teeth, my older brother has none at all as a result of years of bar fights but gums right along just fine. In a fit of sibling guilt I took him to my dentist, but he recommended against dentures. He said patients like my bro tended to (1) lose them, (2) break them, or (3) not wear them.I notice that Joy is back to “home cooking” with her famous homemade Stauffer’s lasagna. Yum! I could hurl just thinking about that.

Susan Sunshine, your name must be a bit of a misnomer these days. How are things holding up with you in Northern CA with this series of storms? Wx report?

At least this strip has a wardrobe change. most of them wear the same clothes every day.So the gb w of don’t bother me as much. I do like the shirts with appropriate sayings on them. A lot to read in this strip.

all my comics today have the dreaded little box with the red x, thay have been gradually going for a week, guess I have to go in and explore the neither regions of the computer. My late MIL had only teeth in the front, wouldn’t wear her bridges. Nibbled everything. The grandkids found this fascinating.

I had issues in my childhood that gave me no enamal on teeth and lost them all by my 30s. I always wear my upper (need to talk properly and it shows in my smile) but I ONLY wear lower for eating – I do better in general without it to talk, whistle and . . .whatever. I have special pouches for it but in 40 years there have been embarrassing events :-P

It IS true- for the stuff they eat -no teeth needed. Personally, I never make a “smoothie” and think that would be a nasty way to lose weight. I HAVE forgotten to take my lower to some meals away from home and just have to pick things with no sharp edges for the most part. Normally I love good healthy food and eat many fruits and veggies raw. I hate mushie food and even my parents always liked what I prepared better than what they got in their “retirement community”.

    Mikie —

Thanks for asking… but it hasn’t been so bad around here that I could possibly complain, after what Sandy did to the East Coast…

And in fact, in the city where I live it’s been a pretty ordinary rain storm. Yes, along the river towards the coast, there’s been flooding, and in the central part of the state, but right here, we’re fine (knock wood.)In fact today is trying to be sunny….but with more rain coming tonight.

I finally got that little mobile to call when I NEED it only. I got the simplest plan with a deposit applied to minutes talking or texting.

Joy is always making “homemade” this and that. When I say homemade it is something with usually everything back to basic ingredients. Somehow I think hers means (possibly) heating up in her own casserole (in the case of this lasangna).
