Jon: ...and Liz made me a GREAT Christmas dinner, mom! Go ahead and warm up the TV, Liz! I'll be right there!
Jon: (whispering) No, your potatoes are better.
Liz: I HEARD THAT!
Garfield: So much for peace on Earth.
I wonder if Jim will make a Christmas cookie reference?Speaking of those, my family did not have any this year because I got a massive fever-virus thing and couldn’t eat a saltine for three days, much less bake and eat cookies. I had to survive off 7 up, ginger ale, water and elderberry syrup (a kind of medicine) poor me. :,(
love to tease my mom at her meals at her house … “but my mom made them better” … she used to be a fantastic cook growing up, though she’s gotten “experimental” in her latter years and some experiments don’t work … but she’s around to still try them out and that’s the important thing!
Jon’s situation reminded me of Scott Macaulay’s story at Story Corps. If you get nice with one, the other would get upset. http://www.npr.org/2010/11/18/131425207/one-man-s-tradition-thanksgiving-dinner-for-strangers

Somehow reminds me of Debora’s lasagna or some Italian dish was better than Marie’s in an episode of “Everybody Loves Raymond.”

All he has to do, is say to Liz that he was humouring his mother and that her (Liz’s) potatoes are much better.

Warm up the tv? I haven’t heard of doing that since they had vacuum tubes in them.
