How does Elly know? What with the ‘sloppy’(i.e. sweatshirt and blue jeans) she wears how can she discern any figure whatsoever? Unless, Elly, is like women everywhere—they imagine that they have gained weight in order to garner sympathy when they go on a diet—that most of the time they don’t need!!!!
All you ‘regulars’ in the comment column are like club members… You all seem to know (and mostly like) each other and make reading the comics strips much more fun. Thanks, and a Happy New Year to you all.
Not to worry Elly. It happens to all of us. That’s what January is for. Lose the weight you gained over the Christmas holidays in time to splurge a bit on Valentine’s day, then lose it in time for spring.
I’ve probably gained at least 5 or 6 lbs. over the holidays myself but it’ll come off pretty quickly once all the Christmas candy is gone (which is usually by the first of the new year — which is when my husband and I always start our next new diet together).
Geez – I know this is too late for anyone to see, so will confess that I got patted down during airport screening today, and the patter commented on how thin I was. Since we were both female, no hanky-panky was involved. Nothing like genes and pervasive food sensitivities to skinny up an old lady. I’m very thankful I can eat anything I please. I don’t think I’d carry on like Elly anyway, though, unless I were in a comic strip.

And John, if you do go near Elly, be sure to keep your mouth shut for a change!

Too bad Elly can’t restrain herself from taking her weight issues out on John and the kids. Lots of women do that. It’s not right though.

The hips and 24" waist are still there. Just have to loose weight to find them! :)

Inside every “fat” person is a skinny one screaming to get out.
