Peter: I'm having second thoughts about pre-Thanksgiving training regimen. Jason: What do you mean? Peter: Traditionally, I've always eaten as much as possible in the days beforehand to stretch the size of my stomach for the big meal. But this year I'm thinking it might be easier to just fast for a few days to work up a ravenous appetite instead. Jason: Since when do YOU find fasting easier than stuffing your face? Peter: Oh, that's right...you have a cold and can't smell. Jason: (sniff sniff) I take it I should be alarmed... Paige: Mother, you promised no more beetloaf! Andy: Relax. This is a new recipe.

If Jesus Christ was able to fast for 40 days, can Peter Fox fast for five days without a temptation from a single morsel?

Beetloaf sounds better than tofuloaf, but not as good as pickled beets or roast beets. I wouldn’t eat roast beets out of season though.

Pickled beets are fine, beet loaf? Not so much.I’m totally with the kids here and I grew up vegetarian.Apparently, the idea of actually adding decent spices to dishes is a lost art for most who cook vegetarian or vegan. It’s a healthy diet and it’s too bad that most who try it seem to have the same allergy to adding a decent amount of seasonings to recipes to actually give them palatable flavor and smell.

I am a carnivore, I would die trying to eat Andy’s cooking. Besides that we are having a non traditional Thanksgiving; I am making gumbo, cannot go wrong that way.

I have a roommate who is a vegetarian and knows very well how to add spices and seasonings to dishes to enchance their flavor. I myself am not vegetarian but will eat vegetarian on occasion simply because it’s easier that way with my roommate.
