Brutus: I'm home, Gladys! Ew! What is that putrid odor?
Gladys: I'm cooking dinner.
Brutus: Oh...say, we haven't been out to dinner for a while - go get your coat!
Gladys: My liver and onions does the trick every time!
I used to LOVE liver and onions until one day when I read the function of the liver, what it does, what all it stores – kinda ruined my apatite knowing I was eatng the garbage dump of an animal’s body. Chicken livers were my fav.
Hey, you don’t need to even cook the liver and onions to get that recation from me. Just mention that they are on the menu, and we are definately eating out.
My mother taught me how to cook liver and onions decades ago, and I love it. I made a few refinements myself, and it’s even a bit better. Bring it on, but do it right!!!
Back in my grad school days, I was working on a talent show act with a friend who offered to make lunch one day and asked if there was anything I didn’t like. “Liver, pretty much,” I said, to which she replied, “Well, we’ll have liver and onions, then!” We didn’t. But when I got back to the dining hall and saw what was available for dinner, I practically laughed myself silly: liver and onions. I had a couple of cheeseburgers.
My favorite is really simple. Coat the liver in seasoned flour [fine bread crumbs work too] and fry in small amount of oil. Cover with onions, mushrooms, gravy or whatever you choose. Yummy. Can also be used in casseroles, etc.

Gladys needs to bottle that smell to spray by the door whenever she wants to go out to dinner.
