I never tire of telling people who are going soft over kitten and puppy calendars that those puppies and kittens are dead and stuffed so they’re easier to pose. I don’t even know if it’s true; I just enjoy telling people that.
…i think every older cat feels threatened by kittens, at least until they’ve put them in their place…Ludwig would probably have preferred the “bird of the month” calendar…
Actually all the cute posed animals from postcards and pictures from the late 19th and early 20th century are almost always dead and posed. Especially the dressed-up rabbits on Easter postcards along with their friends, the Dead Chickies and Dead Duckies. Makes one look at those cute cards with an entirely different eye.
