I don’t know if you are aware but the Egyptian state has been a client of the U.S. for several decades now. Its military- the backbone of the state politically and economically- receives an annual military subsidy. It is funded, armed, and trained by the U.S.. The security apparatus is essentially an extension of the local CIA mission. And then there’s the non military aid the U.S. president is currently presenting contingent on the Egyptian government carrying out the U.S./IMF economic dictates that attack the already dismal living standards of most Egyptians- which the elite is more than happy to .
Acting like the U.S. is a neutral third party here is like Gorbachev while in power saying that hes playing no role in East Germany
