I’m nowhere near as old as Zack’s granddad, but the best stocking stuffers I remember as a kid were some loose change (pennies, nickles and dimes), walnuts and Brazil nuts, a few chocolate gold coins, a box of crayons with a rolled up coloring book topped off by a tangerine, orange, apple or a handful of kumquats. That was a stocking full of joy.
After serving in WWII, my uncle move to Florida and every Christmas he would send a crate of oranges to my mother and grandmother . . . it was a wonderful gift!!

you don’t understand … Those were GOOD days! We were happy with a lot less! [ some didn’t have either the underwear OR the orange]

My dad said his Christmas was the same as the old guy here. Very funny.

That’s what my mother got for Christmas (the orange). This was in the early 1920’s.

Of course, that was before we starting running down the road to totalitarianism.
