Over 6000 people died when a hurricane hit Galveston, Texas in Sept. 1900. Was that due to global warming? Or other storms many decades ago, like the cat 5 Labor Day hurricane in 1935?

When I was a kid in NC nobody would build on the Outer Banks, but a fool. Now there is one half million dollar ‘cottage’ after another shoulder to shoulder due to Federal flood insurance. It is not an improvement.

Global Warming can’t be true because it would cost money. We can’t acknowledge anything to be true if it costs money or would otherwise disrupt the Profit Machine.

I agree with doc toon the climate has been changing for ever. the all that oil we get from the desert was at one time trees. and in the great lakes were carved by ice flows

Bad weather does NOT mean AlGore’s global warming swindle is right. We’ve had bad weather periodically since forever. It’s CYCLICAL. sometimes we warm, and sometimes we cool. Thirty years ago they were worrying about "global COOLING.

ah, it’s cyclical ; meaning, it’s inevitable so do nothing except keep on drilling

Climate is cyclical and it is the height of arrogance and human pride to think that we can somehow control it. That being said, and understanding that the climate is going to do whatever it will do on its own, is no excuse for us not to be good stewards of the planet. But going to extremes and hurting people in the process of going “green” is stupid.

The hurricane that devasted Galveston was miscommunicated. They did not have the same systems in effect and no one believed that it was going to hit Galveston. They should have evacuated but they didn’t even know a storm was coming. As to property damage and loss of life during natural weather patterns, most of it does have to do with people building and living in places that were hard hit but sparsely populated.in other cases there is a cyclical nature to many storm patterns. If there was no one living in a certain area for years and severe storms have a habit of coming through every 50 years, no one would know and they would build. Depending on where in the cycle, it could be decades before it happens. Then surprise, look what I brought. As to global warming, we are on the warm cycle from the last ice age. We should still be cautious and start using cleaner energy because we are speeding it up by quite a few decades.

What if mankind had tried and succeeded in preventing all the previous warmings? Would we still be in the Ice Age? Would we be In the Little Ice Age? Would Germany be able to grow wine grapes? Caveman, 8000 BC: “Ohmigod, the ice is disappearing!”

We have our hurricanes at the end of the summer and the first of the fall, as our continent is cooling. And as our continent cools, people call it global warming. What is amazing is all of the people who swallow that nonsense.

Brilliant Strip! It points out (as well as the comments posted in response do as well) that we have great difficulty accepting this reality of global warming and will grasp at any excuse to say it’s not real, no matter how lame.

The problem is that CO2 is NOT pollution, and the more you have, the more growth of green plants you have. The idea that it causes man-made global warming is a con, and it’s made Al Gore very rich.
