I didn’t have time to post and debate this at SOTU, but today is Cost of Government Day.
From the Center for Fiscal Responsibilty:
In 2009, Cost of Government Day falls on August 12. Working people must toil 224 days out of the year just to meet all costs imposed by government - a full 26 days longer than last year.
In other words, in 2009 the cost of government consumes 61.34 percent of national income.
The report was prepared by Americans for Tax Reform.
i’d have commented on this last night if i could’ve thought of something apropos. not an angler though.
@bald: correct me if i’m wrong, but are “peeps” some kind of marshmallow candy? i’m only vaguely aware of them and am unsure of the reference.

Turn about is fair game.

My grandfather used to put a thick, weighty test on my pole so I wouldn’t get pulled into the water.
He’d say, “Son, I can’t take ya home to your parents all wet.”
Of course, the fish could see my line and I never got a bite. Not even a nibble.
Just as well. G’pa had a hard rule, “You catch ‘em, you clean ‘em.”
