Joy is so cheerful about admitting that all the merchants have to call about her checks.I think it makes her feel special.Proves sheâs more important than ordinary people who get less attention.
And Burl is so casual about being overdrawn.Isnât everybody?
What are checks for if you canât write them for more than you have?If he HAD the money he could just always pay cash and not spend $20 extra for a box of checks.Sheesh.
When at the grocery I now scout the people in front of me. If I see a hint of a checkbook I move to another line even if itâs longer. Just the other day I got faked out by a person who was concealing their checkbook with their gloves. My groceries were on the conveyor so I was âtoastâ. Took her 2 minutes to write the check and 3 minutes to process it.
Doesnât have to be a recycled strip. I have been to diners where there is a shop in the front. Depending on where it is, it may be anything from a gift shop to antiques set up.
I had a problem a few years back where my checks kept getting rejected. It turned out to be bad data at the approval company, a problem with an overdraft that I corrected but the company didnât correct the problem in their records. After calling the company three times and getting the same excuse I threatened to report them to the better business burough, thatâs when I found out that I couldnât report them because I wasnât paying for their services. The problem was never corrected until I switched banks and check accounts.
Only time I had problem w checking was right after divorce when the bank allowed my X and his lawyer access to my data (I changed banks faster than you can imagine). I had specifically told them no access.

Yeah, itâs probably âcuz youâre overdrawn. They owe the bank more in overdraw fees than theyâll ever be able to make up for.

Groan. Itâs THEM again. And itâs not just their checking account thatâs overdrawn!

I had to magnify the comic about 300 times just to make sure that sign didnât say âSmell our new line of candles and pot brownies.â
But noâŠ. it says (I think ) âpot pourriesâ (sic)
Is it just Julieâs bad spelling againâŠ. or did she want us to have to look closer?

While working in a bank, I had to explain to a customer that just because he had checks did NOT mean he had money in his account!
Come to think of it, his lastname might have been Penny!
