Cathy: Happy Mother's day, mom! I'm so sorry I snapped at you last week... Mom: Oh, don't worry about it, Cathy! I stuck my nose where it didn't belong! Cathy: It wasn't just last week... I've been sort of cranky with you all month. Mom: I need to learn to quit butting in. Cathy: Actually, it wasn't just last month. I've been on the defensive for a year! Mom: What could you do? I got so pushy. Cathy: Why am I talking about last year? ...I was weird with you for most of my thirties... I was a complete pain in my twenties...my teens, forget!... I want to do our life all over, starting from age six! Mom: Fine with me! Dad: At least our family never runs out of conversation material.

It’s a true blessing to be born to a woman who loves you and to love the woman who bore you. Don’t take it for granted this is always the case.

Cathy’s dad is such a wonderful man to take the time to understand his crazy women.

My second wife was always ready to tell me how her life had been screwed up by things that happened when she was five years old. She was beautiful, had a career as a psychotherapist, owned her own house, was in good health and had a much younger husband who wouldn’t “buy in” to the suffering. Go figure.

Well, at least they’re bonding. In their own roundabout way, but still, a nice gesture.
