A wet mattress for someone who lives on the floor of the ocean – who’d a thunk?I would have thought that he’d sleep on a clam bed.

“Sponge Bob” will drive you nuts if you listen to it from another room. But once you sit down to watch it, you get hooked. I don’t think young kids could get half the jokes — but then I didn’t get many of the more subtle jokes and word-play from The Three Stooges or Warner Bros. cartoons. .I’ve noted references to famous writers, scientists, and philosophers — slyly inserted into the jokes. The writers are obviously well-educated, and they have fun doing the episodes. I’m not too proud to say my absolutely most fav-o-rite SBSP character is Mrs. Puff. I had a few teachers exactly like her!

As someone who had a lot of trouble with enuresis when I was a kid, I find myself dismayed at the fact that I think this strip is kind of funny. Can someone tell me where I can have my consciousness raised so I can enjoy the outrage I’m entitled to feel and supposed to feel?

He is not a bed wetter (under water you know) He is worse a bed DRYER!Now his mom has to go get his sheets all wet.He needs some help. Patrick can help…… he is an idiot savant. And he still cant get his darn “Boating license”.I like SpongeBob (in measured amounts) and Invader Zim.

Jefferson Starfish is probably just a twisty reference to Jefferson Starship (note the Starfish in the poster is posed in front of a microphone), originally Jefferson Airplane – a mid 60’s into the 70’s and 80’s rock band. Google it, if you’re interested.

She’s angry because she is a Pharmatex, and no longer gets Government aid. Now her anger will cause Bob to grow up to be Depend-ant on her, and unable to Pull-Up from a future life of low esteem.

OhOH! I see a reunion of the San Fran Hippie movement developing. (Just kidding. I remember those hazy crazy days. We got so much changed but so much remained to be changed. I was 16 in 68 and full of hope. I follow the British invasion. Mod was what I think they called it. Colorful, bright, my high school photo is with bright neon blue pants (flared) with a neon blue and white vertical stipe puffy shirt. My hair was (SHOCKINGLY) below my ears (the canal hole that is). I did learn one thing. NEVER throw rocks at cops. They chunk tear gas and other things back. Not cool man, not cool:)

Johnny and Jeepers (with apologies to Veteran LOL) … I was there too!

Going to Cal, living in Berkeley…. only went to the Matrix once, but it’s on early posters.Saw all the seminal groups at the Fillmore.Plus, the Airplane, Country Joe, the Charlatans and others occasionally gave free concerts on campus.

Would be funny if some of us actually met back then!

GoComics will no longer post most comments with punctuation not available on the standard keyboard.

That includes alt characters, and stuff a word processor adds, like changing typewriter-style quote marks to front-and-back facing ones, or changing three dots into a closer spaced ellipsis.

A comment including those will just disappear.

More important than ever to select and copy your comment before submitting, so if it doesn’t you can paste it back and take out anything “offensive” before re-posting.

SpongeBob was abused as a child for wringing out hiself in his bed. Surely his mother didn’t hang his stained sheets out the window for all to see, did she?
