When I was seven I could tell you the thrust of all the F1 engines on the Saturn V booster…but I was a space geek from an early age, having watched the moon landing when I was six.Have you ever watched Sesame Street? Are you aware that it was designed by a host of psychologists, precisely to encourage interest, investigation, and curiosity as well as empathy and awareness of others? There are other shows that go into how things are done and made – Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood used to be great at that. There’s also “How Things Are Made” on the Discovery Channel, plus of course Mythbusters (one of my kids’ favorite shows), which has spread all over the world.Don’t dis Sesame Street — there’s a reason why the GOP hates it.
