When my stepson started college he complained about the conspiracy to keep us in debt by making us take classes we didn’t need. He calmed down because he realized there was nothing he could do about it.
A theory is an idea that needs to be tested to verify or deny it’s validity. More generally, theory refers to contemplative and rational abstract thinking. Although I agree, calling most conspiracy theories a theory bestows too much legitimacy on them, as they often can’t even meet the bar of being rational abstractions.
