I saw my old friend Linda just todayShe looked the same to me as yesterdayâŠHer wrinkles gave her character,She still had lots to say, We talked about the dues weâd had to payâŠSheâs still the same, still growinâ everyday..
Janis just figured that their life wouldnât hit the âsitting around the table talkingâ until much much later. She probably figured at this stage theyâd be out travelling, doing exciting things, etc.
My take is that when they were first married she pictured late forties â early fifties as âoldâ. Now theat she is at that stage in life it really doesnât âfeel oldâ.
I was born in 1950. In my youth I really believed that Iâd be too old to celebrate when we reached the millennium. When it arrived I found Iâd been right all along.
I think Spidman is right. Janis does not look at all relieved or of joy to be where they are right now. I think she may feel that they are actually the foreseen shadow of themselves- if not old in years old in ways. a mid life crisis point feeling that time has passed too quickly to be where they are now and she is not yet old enough to think with surprise- gee I dont feel 60-70-80
Janis is imaging what they COULD look like by now compared with what they DO look like. All you have to do is see some of your old high school friends on Facebook to know what sheâs thinking!

Is that supposed to be Janis in 40 years? Will she finally be wearing something different? Arlo is still wearing the same shirt.

Ouch! I will never be able to get that image of Janis out of my head. Letâs hope JJ ages her VERY slowly and gracefully.
