literacy rates in Mexico is around 90% which when you consider that the graduation rate is 45 (compared to US 75) that is a higher level than many countries in similar economic conditions isn’t bad.

I am Mexican and I am a writer. I publish a book and nobody bought it. Now I get an American literary agent and I promoting a book in the USA to see if I can earn a living there. Also, I am not a illegal alien, I am doing all via Internet like this comment.
