Dad: What are you doing, Tia Carmen? Tia Carmen: I'm deleting my spam email. Tia Carmen: To see time, my email automatically puts all my spam in this special folder. Dad: But you've been sitting there for an hour. Tia Carmen: I need to make sure all my spam is really spam.

Spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, email, spam, spam & spam….
With apologies to Monty Python.

Tia Carmen is right. No spam filter is perfect. If it were, you’d never see any because it would catch it all.

So, where’s the joke? I agree with Doctor Toon above, except that once every week or two I do see something non-spam in there.

I missed the funeral of a beloved friend. A mutual friend claimed she’d sent out several emails. My guess is that several was really one or maybe two and I accidentally deleted it/them while trying to get used to doing email on my smart phone. Not the same issue that Tia is having here with spam, but similar. A missed email can be a big issue.

My e-mail puts things without a subject in the spam folder, so I could get an important e-mail and deleate it. Is it really that hard to put a subject on an e-mail?
