I’ve noticed cartoon characters wearing gloves at strange occasions, eating, playing musical instruments,.etc.I think they are just drawn by force of habit.
I remember a baseball cartoon of a wife waiting in the doorway for her drunk husband as he came home. The wife has a baseball bat in her hands and the husband says, now dear, don’t try for a home run, just bunt me.
